LSU head coach Lane Kiffin returns to his old stomping grounds at Ole Miss on Saturday in college football’s marquee Week 3 matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
The line for this heavyweight SEC matchup has seen some movement due to the uncertain status of LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt (shoulder), who was upgraded from doubtful to questionable on Thursday.

This pick is predicated on Levitt not playing or at least not being at full strength, as he’s the key to LSU’s offense along with RB Dilin Jones. In wins over Clemson and Louisiana Tech, Leavitt has rushed for 135 yards and five TDs. Jones checks in with 179 yards and two TDs.
Leavitt has struggled some in the passing attack, with four interceptions and just two touchdowns. LSU’s biggest asset is its defense, which has yielded an average of 12 points per game so far.
If LSU is forced to start USC transfer Husan Longstreet or Elon transfer Landen Clark, that changes things in a big way. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is the SEC’s top signal caller. The Rebels will look to establish RB Kewan Lacy on the ground, setting up Chambliss to do his thing in the aerial attack.
Ole Miss used that formula to beat a good Louisville team in the season opener. Lacy rushed 17 times for 61 yards and TD. Chambliss threw for 336 yards and three TDs in the 41-38 victory.
LSU’s defense will present a challenge, but Chambliss will find a way to make the difference late.

Chambliss threw for 314 yards in last year’s 24-19 win over LSU. This season, he’s thrown for 561 yards and five TDs in the wins over Louisville and Charlotte.
If the Rebels fail to get the ground game going, that will force Chambliss to throw early and often. Expect Ole Miss to employ quick passes and shorter routes against the LSU defense.
Chambliss will look to connect with top target Deuce Alexander, who leads the Rebels in catches (8), yards (215), and receiving TDs (2).
